Perfect for Halloween Stop

Hilo, Hawai‘i‘Imiloa is the perfect Halloween stop this year. ‘Imiloa will transform its Exhibit Hall into a “Spooky Science Halloween Night” full of mad scientists offering costumed Halloween go-ers a night to remember on Saturday, Oct. 31 when the doors open from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for this special night.

“We hope parents and their children will make ‘Imiloa one of their stops along their trick-or-treating route, as we have a wild night of spooky science planned,” said Justina Mattos, ‘Imiloa experience coordinator. Youngsters will tinker with ‘Imiloa’s trickster spots: the “pit of slime,” its “body in space” and even an “alien dissection” stop. The evening’s “mad scientists” (staff and volunteers) plan to offer a 25 minute tour for the evening’s trick-or-treaters as they roam through the ‘Imiloa Exhibit Hall that just once-a-year becomes a little bit scary and spooky!

Fee is $5 per person (for all participants, adults as well as children) and $4 for members. Families should plan on arriving anytime between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Children under 13 years must be accompanied by an adult. No sugar-coated treats – just a brainy, fun time.

‘Imiloa Astronomy Center, a part of the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo, is located at 600 ‘Imiloa Place, on the UHH Science and Technology campus, off Komohana Street and turn onto Nowelo. Call 808-969-9700 for recorded information, or 808-969-9703 for more information, or www.imiloahawaii.org.
